Join ReLU

Serious ML work outside coursework.

ReLU is for NTNU students who want to build, test, and explain machine learning systems next to their degree.

What you get

You work with partners: companies, hospitals, and research groups. Members work in project teams each semester. Partner work is also a good way to test the waters with places where you might want a job later.

From Fall 2026, ReLU has its own office, a good place to sit and work. ReLU project work runs around 15 hours a week. We want members in the office for the other hours too, working on coursework, a startup, or whatever else they have going. Beyond the projects, we are building a community of people doing serious work.

We are also working on bringing a local GPU cluster into the office. Once it is running, members will be able to use it for their master's thesis or personal projects when there is spare capacity.

Each member also joins a lab: NLP & agents, perception & multimodal, or systems & scaling. Labs are where you go deeper on your area, separately from whichever partner project you happen to be on. Seniors grow into lab leadership, research-track projects, or partner-facing work.

Who should apply

Apply if you build on your own time, care why models behave the way they do, and want teammates who ask specific questions.

You don't need much experience going in. We care more about evidence of effort and clear thinking than polish.

Probably not for you if you mainly want a CV line or talks without project work.

Next intake

Next intake is planned for mid-to-late August 2026. More information to come.

Membership runs September to May. Expect around 15 to 20 hours a week.
