Who we are

We are students who build machine learning solutions for companies. Our approach combines a research-driven focus on cutting edge developments with a pragmatic pursuit of business value. We aim to infuse new ideas into the industry while elevating ML expertise at NTNU. ReLU invites all students passionate about machine learning to join us. Here, you will contribute to shaping the future of ML, both at NTNU and in the broader industry. For details on our industry partnerships, see Our Projects

What we do

ML solutions for industry problems

We leverage machine learning to address real-world problems encountered by our industry partners.

Lectures

We will host technical lectures on cutting edge AI/ML techniques with prominent guests from industry and academia.

Research

We stay updated on current movements within AI/ML, and have a longer-term goal of establishing a research group that arrives at novel machine learning insights.

ReLU NTNU’s Origin

The idea of ReLU is rooted in our time spent as visiting students at UC Berkeley, Harvard, and MIT. We experienced incredibly innovative AI/ML environments, based on collaborations and knowledge sharing between students, faculty, and industry. Our eyes were opened as to why these institutions make for some of the leading spaces in AI. We started to think about why NTNU is lagging behind, and ReLU was founded with the idea of narrowing the gap.

At ReLU, we believe that keeping up with cutting-edge research is a competitive advantage in maximising the industrial value provided by AI/ML. It is a field that moves extremely fast, and new methods that substantially beat the previously best ones are continuously being created. For this reason, we will teach our members to stay at the forefront of the field, and simultaneously think as scientists, engineers, and consultants. That means not only knowing how to use libraries and code built by other people, but knowing the math, building the intuition, and being able to create brand new solutions based on the newest research.
