Predicting Salmon Appetite through Time Series Modeling
During the Spring of 2024, ReLU worked on analyzing and predicting feeding amounts in salmon farming. Given the complexity of salmon farming, shaped by both natural feeding behaviors and operational practices at Grieg, understanding the key factors that influence feeding is crucial for making accurate predictions.
To uncover these factors, the team applied Explainable AI (XAI) techniques such as SHAP to interpret model behavior and reveal underlying patterns in the feeding data. For the predictive task, state-of-the-art classification models, including XGBoost, were employed.
Our final delivery consisted of both analyses and proposed predictive models, presented in a report detailing model performance, key findings, and accompanying code implementations.
